Crime Scene Photography
What You Will Learn
Photography is the single most important element of any crime scene investigation.
In this course, students will be introduced to the components of a digital,
single lens reflex camera and its basic operations. Students will learn
how to format an image, terminology, lighting techniques and filter use,
alternate light source applications, how to use the flash, low light conditions,
and timed exposures. 4 hours will be spent on nighttime photography, requiring
students to adjust their hours accordingly. Photographic techniques will
be practiced in mock crime scene scenarios located indoors, outdoors,
in vehicles, and at night.
Each student will be issued a Nikon D80 or Canon 20D digital camera kit
to use for the duration of the class. This unique benefit will give students
the opportunity to practice photographic skills during off-campus hours
and to document their visit to Florida on a take-home flash drive!
